A building management system (BMS) is an overarching control system that is responsible for the automatic regulation and control, maintaining predefined parameters (or set points) and the control of their function. The aim of a BMS can be to enhance safety of facility operation, monitoring and optimizing the use and efficiency of its supervised subsystems, allow more efficient operation, provide maintenance management, or other needs. Systems are only limited by the number of variables a given control will manage and the costs to add them. Programming is needed to communicate and control.
